This
summer PAL offers a Natural Science Discovery Camp, hosted
by the Ventana Wilderness Society. The Harden Foundation
has generously offered us the opportunity to provide our
members between the ages of 8 to 12 the chance to explore
nature hands-on. The camp offers kayaking on Monterey Bay,
exploring the mud flats at Elkhorn Slough, horseback riding
in Andrew Molera State Park, tide pooling at Point Lobos,
bird banding at the ornithology lab, visiting the Point
Sur Lighthouse, swimming in the Big Sur river, creating
a nature journal, hiking through redwood forest, native
gardening, and much more. Each fun filled week also includes
an overnight adventure where campers spend an evening exploring
nature at night, camping under the stars and appreciating
the world around them.
Projected dates for 2008 are June 30th to July 4th and August 11th to 13th. For more information contact PAL Board member Liz Serrano-Hill at 775-4507.
